Goodbye, Amnesty International.

A few Osama Saeed Bhutta quotes:

Mr Blair has attacked the idea of the caliphate – the equivalent of criticising the Pope. He has also remained silent in the face of a rightwing smear campaign against such eminent scholars as Sheikh al-Qaradawi – a man who has worked hard to reconcile Islam with modern democracy.

Who is Sheikh al-Qaradawi?

Qaradawi was born in Egypt in September 1926 and, following the early death of his father, was raised by an uncle. He memorized the Koran in its entirety by age ten, and was particularly drawn to the brand of extremist, anti-Western Islam advanced by Hasan al-Banna, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood.

From 1998-2000, Qaradawi was a board of directors member with the Islamic Society of Boston, whose founder and first president was Abdurahman Alamoudi — an avid supporter of Hamas andHezbollah, now incarcerated on terrorism-related charges.

As of 1999, Qaradawi was one of the largest shareholders in Al Taqwa Bank, a Bahamas-based financial institution which the U.S. Treasury Department designated as a terrorist financier (with ties to al Qaeda) in 2001. He also served on the bank’s Sharia Board, which oversaw the institution’s adherence to Islamic law.

One of Qaradawi’s foremost passions is his deep and unwavering hatred for, and distrust of, the Jewish people. He has unambiguously justified Palestinian suicide bombings as legitimate responses to alleged “Zionist” aggression and occupation. In an April 2002 sermon, Qaradawi said: “The Israelis might have nuclear bombs but we have the children bomb and these human bombs must continue until liberation…. Calling for peace at this time is treason.” In a similar spirit, in 2004 he toldBBC television, “Allah Almighty is just; through his infinite wisdom he has given the weak a weapon the strong do not have, and that is their ability to turn their bodies into bombs as Palestinians do.”

etc,etc. Clearly, a moderate.

Osama Saeed also said:

Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki was originally hounded in the US becuase two of the 9/11 bombers happened to pray at his mosque. Many of my Muslim readers will either know him personally or have heard his lectures. He preached nothing but peace, and I pray he will be able to do so again.

Nothing but peace?

With a blog, a Facebook page, the al-Qaeda magazine Inspire, and many YouTube videos, al-Awlaki was described by Saudi news station Al Arabiya as the “bin Laden of the Internet.”

Saeed also described Hamas’ suicide bombers as:

Hamas for their part have observed a ceasefire in terms of martyrdom operations for two years now.

Hmmm.

And about the future Caliphate and Sharia:

But what about the issue of sharia? Opposing it is apparently also one of the western world’s raisons d’etre, according to Clarke. Terms such as “sharia” and “caliphate” have important meanings to Muslims quite different from the distorted connotations they often carry in the west. The aim of Islamic law, contrary to popular belief, is not punishment by death or amputation of body parts. It is to create a peaceful and just society,

[That may be the stated goal, the means are the problem. Not to mention the definition of “peaceful” and “just” he may be using.]

I’m sure Osama Saeed will be a great director of communications at Amnesty International. Nothing suspicious here, move along, filthy islamophobe.

Note: I’ve used this article from the Elder of Ziyon as a source for some of the quotes.
